: The Rosslyn Motet
New Layer of Ancient Greek Writings Detected in Medieval Book
Me, myself, and wine will host a small gathering with friends as smitten with the outstanding olfactory concoctions of Miss Beth and the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab peeps. If I’m not already in contact with you and you’re a BPAL fan, let me know. (any excuse for wine better than the wine hour fare, eh?)
Endlessly behind. On keeping up with my favorite bloggers, on the 1,000,001 things I have to do, and, of course, on blogging (yeah, you haven’t noticed, admit it.) I think I need to read Seven ways to find the time to blog
and get a grip.
Of course, I also need to work out, eat right, parent my children with less volume, and give my house a thorough cleaning. And there’s the Congress paper that’s not currently writing itself. argh and ugh.
I hope their amps go to 11: Spinal Tap to reunite at Live Earth concert
We’ve got Armadillos in our trousers. It’s really quite frightening.
Archaeology world tour:
Bulgaria: Marble Phrygian Goddess Statue Discovered in Bulgaria
Hungary: Neolithic burial site yields unique archaeological find
Greece: 2 000-year-old tombs unearthed
Iran: Iran opens dam that archaeologists fear will harm famed Persepolis and other ancient sites
Not blogging VATech. Not going there.
Congress is eating my brain.
Too much to blather about, too little time for blathering.
Anyone planning a blogger meetup at Congress?
(I’m google calendaring this year, if y’all want read-rights, jus’ holler)
Not up on news stories, I’m behind. Here’s one:
Archeologists Discover Medieval Jewish Bath in Erfurt
No really, go see it – it’s really well done!
Note: the pieces aren’t crooked, the photographer was tired. DOH!
salt-fired teabowls in porcelain and stoneware:
2.5″ X 4″dia rim
2.2″ X 4.25″ dia rim
salt-fired stoneware mug (waiting on a whole slew of others, as well as tart warmers):
3.75″ X 4″dia rim
stoneware bowl:
3.5″ X 6″dia rim
a handbuilt stoneware bowl with a lattice-weave textured interior:
2.75″ X 11.25″dia rim
another tree-tile, this one salt-fired:
8″ X 8″ (another stupid stress-fracture! gah!)
some of my part-wheel-thrown/part-hand-built stoneware boxes:
7″ X 4″ across rim (alas I tripped while holding this and as you see, I had to repair. damnit.
8.5″ X 4.25″ across rim
7.5″ X 3.5″ across rim
stoneware lidded jar, salt-fired, my first experiment with masking:
6.5″ X 7″dia body
and I made a bunch of salt-fired, woven, organic-looking stoneware soap dishes (or whatever dishes). as you can see, there were two of these listed as casualties in the Great Clumsy Incident, too:
2.5″ X 5.25″ across (approximate measurement, for obvious reasons)
1.5″ X 4.5″ across at widest point
2.25″ X 5.25″ across (approximate measurement, for obvious reasons)
1.5″ X 4″ across (approximate measurement, for obvious reasons)
2″ X 6″ across (approximate measurement, for obvious reasons)
1.5″ X 5″ across (approximate measurement, for obvious reasons)
