You heard it here first…

I realize I’m breaking my rule again, but I can’t keep this to myself. This is been a pretty no-excitement diet weekend, anyway. I think I’ll do crunches later. Ho hum.

Anyway, many people have kids because they want to teach them about the world. I am beginning to realize I had them for the opposite reason.

Emma today taught me that each moment is to be savored – for example, when running through the house unclothed it is necessary to do the right dupa-wiggle dance and sing “Naked! Naked! Naked as a salad!”

Keep in mind this is the same kid that, when standing at the screen door at my parents’ house watching a storm roll in, expressed her amazement with the nasty-looking weather closing in on us (with all due volume and emphasis), “Oh my holy moley godmother’s pachachas!” I’m still wondering about the lesson in *that* one.

My first plateau…awwwwww.

No seriously, it sucks. BUT I worked my ass off (we can hope) today and Olga tells me I get to add in cardio after my weight training AND machines for biceps and triceps next week. OOoh. *That* excites my inner machochist, let me tell you. I need to drink more water. I was very bad about it yesterday, which may explain why today’s weight was 279.4. 🙁

I finally asked her to write down my current weights (on the machines) so I can track that here, too. Leg extention- 50 lbs. Seated leg curl- 80 lbs. Chest press- 60 lbs. Lat pull down- 70 lbs. Military press- 30 lbs. I’m certainly no Ahhhhhhnald, but they’re hardly embarassing considering I’ve only been at this two weeks.

Also, I need to rant briefly(?) about the fucking phone company – we had arranged for them to bill Bri’s credit card monthly, but did they bill it this month? NO. Do we know why? NO. Do we currently have phone service? uh, NO. The bastards have their money now, thanks to Western Union, but still no phone until Monday. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I think this is finally going to drive me to acquire a cell phone and make the land line go buh-bye.

Piece of work-related good news – blues back and approved! CfP at print, due back next week! Huzzah! (monkey off back, film at eleven)

what’s eating YOU?

So I said I wouldn’t prattle on endlessly about my children – but I should mention that today has been one of painful milestones: first Colin, my easy-going and smiley little guy, burst into tears when I handed him over to the sitter this morning. Offical mom-is-a-heel moment as I slipped out the door. Then, tonight, he nipped my, well, nip. Little bugger chomped me but good – very ouch. Very.

In the beginning…

So I have been thinking I’ll be a trendy geek and start uniquely over-sharing in a blog. There is nothing interesting about me, so I’m sure I’ll fit right in with the hip, wired, and exceedingly boring.

Toured West Hills Athletic Club. A co-worker goes there – it’s air-conditioned and not full of buff undergrads ready to give anyone of a certain age or a certain lack of fitness the ol’ hairy eyeball. No pool, but they do have child care on-site! WMU owns it, so Bri and I would get a discount on membership – hmmm. Got guest pass, will have to pop in and see how comfortable I feel when not in ‘tour’ mode.

And it was without form, and void…

Still boring. I think refraining from talk of job and children may be easier on us all, but that limits me considerably. That, and I’m not sure about the daily-entry blabbage…is it just me, or are the girls who wanted diaries with locks for their birthdays in junior high all on the web as adults broadcasting to the world whether they had eggs over-easy or scrambled?

Maybe I should stay away from religion (I’m a Pagan..but it’s less sexy than it sounds) and politics, too. Politics are more Brian‘s bag, anyway. (at least, I don’t get a word in edgewise at home so why start now?)
